Founded in 2017 as a 501(c)(3), Friends of Boulder County Sheriff K9 provides critical financial support for both active and retired K9s of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. Their mission includes covering medical costs for retired K9s, supplementing training and equipment needs for current K9 teams, assisting with the purchase of future K9s, and honoring the legacy of the BCSO Canine Unit. While the Sheriff’s Office covers salaries, vehicles, and routine care, unexpected medical expenses and equipment needs can quickly strain available budgets. This event helps bridge that gap while giving the community an opportunity to support these working dogs in a fun and meaningful way. Join us for a night of stand-up comedy with Vinnie Montez and friends to help ensure Boulder County’s K9s continue to receive the care, training, and resources they deserve.

Or are you a newer comic ready to sharpen your skills and build a brand-new set? In this fun, supportive, and high-energy 6-week course, you’ll be introduced to the core fundamentals of stand-up comedy—joke writing, stage presence, mic technique, and developing your comedic voice. Each week combines writing exercises, live feedback, and performance practice to help you shape and refine a 5–10 minute set. The course culminates in a live student showcase, where you’ll take the stage and perform your set in front of an audience. Whether you’re taking the mic for the first time or looking to reboot your material with new direction, this course is your chance to dive in, level up, and get laughs. This course is led by Comedy Works Pro Janae Burris Janae Burris (Just For Laughs/NBC First Look) is a comedian and actor based in Denver, CO. A South Central Los Angeles native and CalArts alumna, who brings a bold, theatrical edge to stand-up comedy. Janae has been featured at Portland’s Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Limestone Comedy Festival, Telluride Blues Festival, and Denver’s High Plains Comedy Festival. She’s headlined Ha Ha Harvest in Portland, JokeChella in Fort Collins, and Aspen Laugh Fest. In 2019, she was named a New Face at Just For Laughs in Montreal, and she’s showcased at NACA West, Midwest, and Central. Janae teaches empowerment through stand-up comedy to teenage girls as a camp counselor for Athena Project, and this summer marks her third year hosting Film on the Rocks at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Her debut comedy special MomBod, was released by Open Bar Media on YouTube in fall 2024. She currently tours with Josh Blue and Moms Unhinged, but if you're a local Colorado comic, you might recognize her as part of the New Talent team at Comedy Works. FAQ: Can I take this course if I'm not available for all dates? Yes, you can take the course, but make-up hours are at the instructor's discretion. Is there any minimum experience required? Nope! Sophie Buddle
VIP tickets include Priority Seating in the first five rows! Sophie Buddle is a stand-up, a TV writer, and a podcaster. She has just wrapped as the head monologue writer for After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson. She has also appeared on The Tonight Show, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and on CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes as a correspondent and staff writer. She's also been featured on CTV’s Roast Battle, JFL All Access, Kevin Hart's LOL Network, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Halifax Comedy Festival. She was a featured performer at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and in 2022 had the esteemed privilege of delivering the Canadian Keynote Address on Comedy. Sophie released her first album in 2019, Lil Bit Of Buddle, which won the 2020 Juno Award for Best Comedy Album of the Year, making her the first female comic to win that award. She released the album herself so you can find it on iTunes in the genre "easy listening", which was a mistake, but it is easy to listen to, so it's OK. Her podcast Obsessed with Sophie Buddle, which tackles people’s obsessions (from Beyoncé to American politics to checking if the door is locked to revenge) is currently available on Apple Podcasts. She is a three-time runner up (but fourth time’s the charm!) for Canada's biggest stand-up contest, SiriusXM Top Comic, and can currently be seen headlining across the country.
